The E28s are owned by the same guy. The blue 528e was his daily driver/project until it suffered a fire, and he found a 535is with some needs that the 528 is now a donor for, since it had lots of good bits.

TFritch, was is it that you do for living if you don’t mind me asking? I’m currently in tech school studying automotive maintenance and they’re basically prepping us to work in dealerships when we finish school. I really don’t want to work for a dealership. Classic cars are my thing and every time you post something in your shop it gets me going. I just want to work on old cars and what not when I finish up in school haha

I manage a small independent Euro shop, where I started apprenticing way back in high school. I had a much longer and thoughtful response in progress but Kinja mobile has decided against it, so I'll try to come back to this tomorrow, or remind me to. Lots to say on your dilemma.

I adore E28s. Although those US-spec bumpers are awful. I’ll better get one before they go extinct.

I do too, I've had two of them myself. It's a car I keep coming back to. If the mgb doesn't happen I've got a line on a cosmetically challenged 528e (not this one!) that would make a fine daily.

Is a 528e a US-spec 525e? Automatic?

Similar idea to the 525e I think, with a 2.7L M20. Low revs but lots of torque, and long gearing for good fuel economy. The car my coworker has available is a manual. He also owns my old red 535is, so at least I get to see it every day! The blue car in this post has a nice black sport-seat interior that I may pick up for the other car, since it’s beige and in poor shape.

Yeah, our 525 had the M20B27 eta engine as well. Good engine for cruising, not a hoon-mobile. But you don’t need that in a daily anyway. I know I told you to get that B but this is definitely a good alternative. If you can have it with eurostyle bumpers that is!

That and lights would definitely be on the priority list! I let a set of uninstalled Euro lights go when I sold my M5, I should have kept them because I always knew I’d have another E28, I’ve been wanting one for awhile.

Oh no, you got inferior lights as well? What is wrong with you people???? ;-)
If I didn’t move last year I would have bought a nice brown 520i Manuèl. An E28 might be the replacement for my V60 DD in a few years...

We got a quartet of awful little 5" sealed beams thanks to our archaic DOT regulations. Not only do the Euro lights work much, much better, but with the 7" main lamps they look so good tucked under the lip of the hood.

They don’t even look the same, those lights? Good lord. Those fronts look so incredibly good with the lights slightly covered by that hood indeed. This would be my color/wheel combo I suppose. Beige interior please.

Looks like Delphingrau, great color. If I pick up the Bronzit car, you can have the beige interior! Black is my choice. And I can’t stand Bronzit, but the cosmetics are bad enough that I might have to change it somehow.

It’s 184 Delphin metallic alright. Not a that obvious color one an E28 over here. The one pictured misses that green (or was it grey already) tint in the top of the windscreen though. Never order one without it ;-)
Did I ever tell you my brother had a E21 320/6? Phönix rot. With gold BBS. Those “small” I6's really sound amazing!

I actually had a gray market ‘81 323i at my disposal for awhile, it was beat up but it screamed, really a fun car! There’s a very nice Glacierblau one on BBSs hiding around here that I see infrequently, I’ve put my card on it twice asking to be notified if it’s for sale.

Fingers crossed! But I’d go for that E28. Any day.

E28s are great. I wouldn’t mind having one one day

What are you trying to make me go backwards here? I have no garage for that. Can I keep it at your place?

Ha. Haha. I have no space either, I’m trying to sell cars, remember? And yet, I only seem to accumulate more. Sometimes, backwards is the only way... forward?
Anyway, look at it. Gaze upon it, and let the want flow through you. You know you want. Do it.

That is the strangest shade of Blue I have ever seen.... Dude, look if you help me make it manual and race ready, I will buy one with dirty German Marks.

It’s a shitty repaint. This one is a manual though.

Is it for sale?
